Rick Amernick is the founder of the DC Capital Striders Running Group and currently serves as the organization’s president. The group began in spring 2006 as a way to unite runners and athletically minded individuals for free weekly runs and to train, volunteer and motivate each other to perform at their best and meet their fitness goals. Since inception, Rick has participated in four marathons, several half marathons, century bike rides, triathlons and other endurance events. He currently is certified as a running coach through Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) and has trained several athletes to meet various racing events. He is an ambassador for the National Tour De Cure, a cycling series through the American Diabetes Assocation. Rick is a certified school psychologist and also teaches college courses as an adjunct professor. He is from Baltimore originally and is an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles.
